Cooper Voltage Regulators Schools

Sometimes, there’s just no substitute for digging in and getting your hands dirty. There’s also no substitute for learning from the best. If you want to get the most out of your step-voltage regulators, it just makes sense to turn to the people who design and build the best in the business: Cooper Power Systems.

We offer three training courses:

Training Schedule

Traditional Regulator School: Factory
A Comprehensive, Hands-On Three Day Course – the course consists of hands-on training sessions and lectures on the testing, troubleshooting and repair of voltage regulators. Attendees are encouraged to discuss their own experiences. Instructors will help attendees develop solutions to specific maintenance and repair problems they have encountered on the job.

In Three Days, You Will Learn:

  • Regulator theory, products, and applications
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance, and replacement part selection
  • Low voltage hands-on troubleshooting and untanking
  • Tap changer hands-on maintenance and repair
  • Overview of regulator schematics
  • Regulator communications and software

Controls School
A three day course consisting of lectures and hands on training. Attendees will learn about control basics, configuration, and troubleshooting.  
The Cooper Control Interface (CCI) software is included as part of the training agenda.

In three days you will learn:

  • Control Theory
  • Control Setup and Configuration
  • Advanced Control Features and Functions
  • Communications and SCADA applications
  • Cooper Control Interface Software
  • Control and Apparatus Troubleshooting

Tap Changer School
This three day course focuses on the full range of Cooper Tap Changers. The class consists of lectures and hands on training with many of the tap changer types.  Maintenance and Troubleshooting topics are also included as part of this course.

In three days you will learn:

  • Spring Drive Tap Changer theory of operation
  • Direct Drive Tap Changer theory of operation
  • Quick Drive Tap Changer theory of operation
  • Tap Changer Maintenance
  • Tap Changer Troubleshooting
  • Parts Replacement procedure

Onsite Options
Got a big group? Thinking it might be easier if we came to you? Not a problem! We’ll bring the same expert training available at our site to yours.

What’s included:

  • Two to three days of on-site instruction for up to 25 students
  • Training literature
  • Shipment and set-up of training equipment – includes demo controls, demo regulator and demo tap changers
  • All instructor expenses

Customer to Supply:

  • Classroom facilities large enough to accommodate (up to) 25 students and equipment
  • Overhead projector and screen
  • Purchase order to confirm on-site school
