Triple-Single Reclosers
NOVA-TS

The Kyle® Type NOVA-TS Triple-Single recloser consists of three single-phase NOVA™ reclosers. Each recloser consists of an interrupting module, with an embedded current transformer, and mechanism mounted to an aluminum head casting. Each mechanism and interrupter assembly is mounted to a steel tank suitable for pole or substation mounting. The interrupter modules utilize outdoor cycloaliphatic-epoxy-encapsulated vacuum interrupters.

The three single-phase reclosers that make up the NOVA-TS are controlled by a single Form 6 or Form 5 microprocessor-based recloser control that can be programmed for three operating modes.

  • Single-phase trip, Single-phase lockout
  • Single-phase trip, Three-phase lockout
  • Three-phase trip, Three-phase lockout

The Kyle® Form 6 and Form 5 Triple-Single microprocessor-based recloser controls are designed for use with the NOVA-TS Triple-Single recloser to provide automation of distribution feeders in line applications.

One Form 6 or Form 5 Triple-Single control operates three single-phase NOVA-TS reclosers representing phases A, B, and C.

The Form 6 and Form 5 Triple-Single controls use three modes of operation.

  • Mode A: Three-phase trip, three-phase lockout
  • Mode B: Single-phase trip, three-phase lockout
  • Mode C: Single-phase Trip, single-phase lockout

The Form 6 and Form 5 Triple-Single controls include phase and ground current sensing as well as voltage sensing on a per-phase basis for both source and load. The control can compute and record current and voltage harmonics, power, power factor, and power flow direction from current and voltage measurements. They also include powerful Data Profiler and Event Recorder features.

Programming, interrogation, and operations are accomplished utilizing the supplied interface software program via a personal computer or, with the Form 6, through the front panel. Also, remote communication is available through additional communication ports.

Optional contact Inputs and Outputs along with a choice of communication options, RS232, RS485, Fiber-Optic, and Ethernet, can be ordered as accessories. Mounting provisions can be provided to add customer-supplied radio and modem modules.
