Fault Protection and Switching/Sectionalizing MOST
Kyle® Type MOST pad-mounted switchgear offers a simple, economical approach to underground protection and switching for 5, 15, 25 and 35 kV underground systems. The MOST modular design provides a wide selection of switching combinations to meet specific requirements without the added cost of custom construction. The oil-insulated, sealed design offers an unobtrusive, low profile appearance that compares favorably with larger, more bulky air-insulated equipment. MOST switchgear is designed and tested in accordance with ANSI standard C37.72.
MOST switchgear is suited for utility and commercial/industrial requirements. A wide selection of fuses makes it easily adaptable to distribution systems. MOST switchgear fits the majority of standard pads, and is compatible with commonly used tools and techniques.
MOST switchgear utilizes single-phase and three-phase, gang-operated loadmake/loadbreak oil sectionalizing switches. Four switch designs are available: two-position open/close, four-position selector blade, four-position "V" blade, and four-position "T" blade. The "V" and "T" blade designs perform the function of three separate open/close switches. Combining multiple functions on one switch permits quicker and more reliable operation. For applications where parallel loops are required, break-before-make operation is guaranteed. When oil-sectionalizing switches are used, the need for interlocks is eliminated.
Positive position indicators are provided. A spring-loaded actuator provides loadbreak operation and positive latching through all positions, independent of the speed at which the operating handle is turned. The side-mounted switch can be operated by a hotstick or an optional manually operated T-handle. Front-mounted switches are optional and must be operated with a hotstick.
200-amp interfaces are provided as either 200-amp bushing wells or 200-amp one-piece bushings. Both conform to ANSI/IEEE standard 386. Bushings are mounted in-line a minimum of 24 inches above the pad. If 600-amp deadbreak aluminum type bushings are furnished, they conform to ANSI/IEEE standard 386.
The deadfront, tamper-resistant construction of low-profile MOST switchgear makes it suitable for operation in areas subject to excessive moisture, occasional flooding, and blowing snow. Cabinets meet the enclosure security requirements of ANSI standard C57.12.28. Inside, all terminators are covered with insulating rubber. All internal parts are completely sealed in insulating oil to reduce maintenance and eliminate the problems of moisture, dirt and wildlife commonly associated with air-insulated switchgear.
Swing-up doors or cabinet-style doors are available. Both source and tap doors can be fully open at the same time. Each door has a floating lock pocket with padlock provisions and pentahead silicon bronze door bolt.
Painted with the most advanced coating system in the industry, MOST switchgear retains a like-new protective finish years after others have blistered, cracked, chalked, or rusted.

| *An alternate two-position OPEN-CLOSE switch is available for 15 kV, 25 kV, and 35 kV designs that have a 300A continuous and load switching rating. This alternate switch meets ANSI C37.71 and C37.72 requirements. |
| **Interrupting rating for fused units depends on the selected fuses and the application voltage. |
Models for switching, sectionalizing, and protection are available in 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6-way standard configurations. For availability of other configurations, contact your Cooper Power Systems representative.
